Duderstadt lies in the heart of the Untereichsfeld. The city experienced its heyday in the Middle Ages during the Hanseatic League. With over 600 colourful and splendidly decorated half-timbered houses, Duderstadt is one of the most beautiful half-timbered towns in Germany. The old town is surrounded by the historic green rampart. There are numerous sightseeing possibilities in the surrounding area.
