Founded in 1737, the University of Göttingen is an internationally renowned research university with strong focus on research-led teaching. Almost all subjects are represented across the 13 faculties. With over 30,000 students of which around 12 per cent are international students, and offering up to 200 degree programmes, the University is one of the largest in Germany. It regards its great research tradition and subject diversity as particular strengths. Active agreements with 432 higher education institutions in 90 countries, a wide variety of scholarship opportunities for international students and scholars, and a vast number of English-taught programmes illustrate the University’s international status.
