Each spring, when the actors arrive in Bad Gandersheim, is the beginning of what locals like to call the “fifth season”: The idyllic small town is transformed into a colourful festival town. For more than 60 years now, the Gandersheim Cathedral Festival has been a cultural flagship. Every summer around 50,000 visitors come to Bad Gandersheim to be enchanted by the performances in front of the Romanesque collegiate church. With its drama and music theatre productions, the Gandersheim Cathedral Festival has become a trademark that has attracted attention far beyond the region.
